“Overland Peanut” is now “Dirt Trails Wanted”

New year, new name, who dis??

We are very excited to announce that @overlandpeanut is now @dirttrailswanted! The name change for our website and Instagram account comes after a lot of reflection and deliberation as we realized that “Overland Peanut” was just the beginning for us. We realized that we didn’t want the endearing name of one of our vehicles to define our platform, our journey, or the work that we hope to share since there is so much more that inspires and drives us.

Where it all started…

This journey we are on all started the day that Brian bamboozled me into buying our LMTV, Peanut with the goal of converting it into an expedition camper truck. We were excited to create an Instagram account for the truck and we even started our original blog to document the process and share knowledge and insight since there aren’t a ton of self-built LMTV campers out there. Although we had good intentions and wrote a few blog posts documenting some of our build out, we didn’t really keep up with it. Just documenting the tuck and the build out alone really wasn’t exciting or inspiring enough to keep us engaged with it, so the website and the blog fell by the wayside a bit.

To be honest, we (Brian) did a way better job of curating and cultivating our Instagram account over the last three and a half years and we have had so much fun with it! We realized just how much we love sharing our adventures, experiences, and inspiration with you all and have been blown away by the community that we’ve become a part of and the individuals that we’ve connected with. Whether swapping tips on LMTV build outs and overland rigs, or simply bonding over our shared love of outdoor adventure and hidden gems, this mostly virtual community has been such an incredible place to connect and learn and grow. We are so excited to continue connecting with more of you, and hope to get out on the trails together as well!

Our inspiration and vision for Dirt Trails Wanted

With the renaming of our platform to Dirt Trails Wanted, we are excited to broaden our horizons, push ourselves to learn new skills, get out of our comfort zones, and dig deeper into what outdoor adventure, travel, and “home” really mean to us.

Ultimately, our inspiration and driving force for all of this is rooted in the “adventure feels”. Yep, the fluffy stuff. Every overland rig that we’ve built out has been with the specific intention of helping us get out on more adventures big or small. Over the past several years, we’ve realized that many of the things that we value most in life are found in the outdoors and specifically at the end of a dirt road. We love exploring new areas and revisiting old favorites, but regardless of whether we are getting our butts kicked on some epic hike or simply sitting still in the middle of nowhere, the ever-constant truth is that any time spent in nature is where we are the happiest versions of ourselves. This is at the core of what fuels our passion for travel, adventure and the rigs that get us out there.

Lately we’ve been having a lot of fun learning new skills and finding new ways to tell stories and express ourselves creatively.  Being more intentional with our storytelling whether through writing, photo, or video not only offers a way for us share inspiration with you all, but also allows us to better digest our own experiences and reflect on the incredible gifts that they are.  The realization of our travels and adventures as gifts is compounded as we can’t help but notice as many of the beautiful and fragile places that we visit are being loved to death.  With this we feel a sense of responsibility to use our storytelling as a way to spread awareness and an ethic of environmental stewardship to ensure that these places that we all hold dear are protected, respected, and cared for — for the sake of the land itself, our own source of joy and inspiration, as well as that of future generations to come.

So whether truck-powered, human-powered, or some combination of the two, we look forward to sharing more beautiful imagery, stories, guides, and of course those warm and fuzzy adventure feels in hopes that we may inspire you to get out and forge your own adventures too!

Stay tuned for more updates and thanks for joining us on this journey!

Until next time!

-Christina & Brian
